Scott Braun is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and socio-political activist from New York, NY, currently living and working in Washington, DC. His sculpture and social practice engage participants in critical exploration of societal structures and human relationships. He has been artist-in-residence at the Haas Retreat for Writer Development in North Dakota, Anderson Ranch in Colorado and Haystack in Maine, and his work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions at the Queens Museum, Sideshow Gallery, The Rosenthal Library, the Benton/Nyce Gallery, and the Rye Arts Center Gallery in New York, the Pei-Ling Chen Sculpture Garden at Savannah College of Art and Design, and the American University Museum in Washington, DC. He has performed “The Decency Project” in cultural/academic institutions and public parks in 15 states across the US, including Korea Art Forum in NYC, at the Museum for Art in Wood and LOVE Park in Philadelphia, the VA Museum of Fine Arts and the Branch Museum in Richmond, VA, and the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO.

Braun has served as Lecturer in Sculpture at Yale School of Art (2009-2012), Faculty/Critic at New York School of Interior Design (2012-2019), and Assistant Professor, Area Head in Wood, for the Craft/Material Studies Department of VCUArts in Richmond, VA (2019-2022). He has been a visiting artist/critic at Parsons School of Design, University of the Arts, Lehigh University, the Colorado School of Mines, and Pratt Institute. He holds a BA in Music from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and an MFA in Studio Art and Social Practice from Queens College, CUNY in NY.
